Meiosis




What is Meiosis?

Meiosis is cell division. The nucleus divides into 4 nuclei each having half the amount of chromosomes. Meiosis is essential in sexual reproduction an happens in all eukaryotes including single celled organisms.

-Cell division
-Four cells are created with half the chromosomes
-only happens with reproduction

    1. There can be mutations in cells that can be passed on to offspring and contribute to genetic variability of the population.
