Genetic Variation: Crossing Over


  • When mom and dads chromosomes swap information when lined up next to each other.
  • This is a source of genetic variation.
  • Part of the process of Meiosis.

I did not know about crossing over when I started learning about it but I did know about the process of Meiosis and how it is used to create more cells.  This objective was a little confusing to me because of all of the different sources of genetic variations but after a little it of review, I think it will start to make more sense.

      It is the difference in DNA sequences.

      They are split evenly you get 23 chromosomes from mom and 23 from dad.
