Lab Safety - Grace Moore

For lab safety, the number one thing to do is to be smart. When handling chemicals you should use common sense and if you are not for sure about something, it is better to ask rather then get hurt during a lab!
Key points
1.) Keep long hair pulled back
2.) wear glasses when needed
3.) Don't wear open-toed shoes on the day of lab
4.) Dress appropriately for lab
5.) Don't touch dangerous chemicals
6.) Make sure the work station is clean
Something cool to learn from this is if you are not careful with your chemicals during labs and if you don't have a clean work station you can have an accidental reaction happen!

  1. What does dress appropriately on the day of labs mean, more specifically? What is the opinion on dresses?

    1. Should not wear dresses. You should wear clothes that cover much skin and will not be thin. You need full coverage thick clothing to protect your skin. If you are not wearing the right clothes you can also wear a lab coat.

  3. The appropriately dressed for a lab would be clothes that are thick and they fully cover your skin and if you are not wearing something like this, consider wearing a lab coat.
